Ketchup for Breakfast is an analogy that highlights the issues many children on the spectrum experience with food. A child eating Ketchup with every meal to disguise the taste of the food was an issue facing one family every day. When asking what this child had for breakfast – they replied ‘Ketchup for Breakfast!’ That expression has stayed with us ever since. The holistic way we helped to resolve this ‘problem’ has come to represent the ethos of our working practice.
We have over 25 years of working with children who have additional needs, most of which are with children who have autism spectrum conditions.
We have experience in many different settings: homes and schools (mainstream and special) with boys & girls of all ages. We have also worked within ‘Local Authority Autism Outreach Teams’ (working with schools and delivering parent training courses).
Parenting children on the spectrum ourselves – we can say with sincerity that we understand the diagnostic journey (both as parents and professionals) and the alienation, isolation and sleepless nights faced by many parents!
The field of Autism is an ever-changing environment. We keep up to date with news and latest research, we don’t like to miss key opportunities to learn new skills. We feel it is important to be at the front of the knowledge curve and to be leaders in our field.
All our team have clear Enhanced DBS Checks and Child Protection training and are fully insured.
